La ciencia también twittea: lanzamiento de la nueva API de Twitter
En julio del 2020, Twitter lanzó una nueva generación de API, y expresó su deseo de buscar facilitar el acceso a la información para la comunidad científica. Esto lo hará a partir del nuevo lanzamiento de los productos de Investigación Académica, en su nueva API.
¿Qué es una API?
Una API se utiliza en el desarrollo de software y permite que sus productos y servicios se comuniquen con otros, sin necesidad de saber como implementarlos.
¿Por qué es importante esta implementación?
Si bien no afecta la usuario promedio, es una muy útil herramienta para investigadores/as que deseen utilizar datos de Twitter. Este nuevo lanzamiento permitirá acceder más rápido a la información, y más fácil discernir qué información es fiable.
¿Qué incluye esta nueva API?
Todo investigador calificado tendrá acceso a las funciones de esta nueva API. Por ejemplo:
- Acceso gratuito a todo el historial de conversaciones públicas (antes limitado a usuarios premium).
- Un mayor nivel de acceso a la plataforma de desarrolladores de Twitter.
- Capacidades de filtrado más precisas.
- Nuevas guías técnicas y metodologías de estudio.
¿Cómo puedo acceder a la nueva API?
Primero, es necesario solicitar el acceso con la aplicación de Investigación Académica. Pueden hacerlo desde aquí
Es necesario, además, cumplir estos tres requisitos:
- Ser un estudiante de Máster, candidato a doctorado, post-doctorado, profesor de facultad, investigador empleado en una institución académica o universitaria.
- Tiene una investigación con un tema definido y tiene un plan específico para usar, analizar y buscar en Twitter Data para su investigación (más información)
- No utilizará la información recopilada para ningún propósito comercial (más información)
Lamentablemente, los formularios como la información actualmente solo se pueden encontrar en inglés.
